I'm in Desperate Need of a Makeover

It's getting closer to the release of my book in September and the beginning of a year of traveling to promote it. With that in mind, I need some help. I want to update my "look" and add some serious style to my hair. I've had long hair for years and it has worked well for me but now I feel like it is making me look older. (It could be the many years I've got under the belt or the extra pounds that I'm lugging around but I prefer to think that it is all my hair's fault).

I hate this picture of me!!! The photographer didn't want me to smile so I look like I am constipated. He told me my hair was very 80's. Fabulous!

I have a hair appointment this week and I need to bring in a picture of my new hairstyle! I found a few I like and of course after I put them together I realized that they are almost exactly the same.

The only thing I am worried about is going too short as I am a very big fan of the pony tail. I'm thinking of starting out somewhere between #1 and # 6. I can always go shorter. What do you think?

I love these hairstyles. I think that it will look great on you.
i think it might be a good idea to leave just barely long enough to pull back if you want to. I am a big fan of putting my hair back on mornings when i don't have time to fuss. good luck and let us see what you look like with your new bob,

I think you'd look great with the shorter version. Go for it!

I am afriad for you. Why you ask? I have 80's fab hair too! And, I can't cut. No way. But, it is a fact, you will look cute with any of those... Just stay long enough for a nice tidy elegant pony.. I love those... ;)

Isn't hair just such a trauma? Thanks for all the encouragement. I will post a picture of the finished product - unless its hideous - then you will not see another picture of me until it grows back !!!!

I love all of those options! And you are right - you can always go shorter.

You have beautiful hair and a pretty face, so I don't think you can go wrong.

Jackie, I found your blog from Barbara Jacksier and saw your hair crisis. and yes when Im having a bad hair day the world just isnt right. I too have had the same style for years, what can I say its me..so I can totally relate. I use to hairdress years ago and I think Photo # 6 would be stunning on you and give you a gradually update to your already fabulous style.

I vote for 6. I'm slowly getting bangs- I started off with layers and my hairdresser is slowly moving up my head. With 6, you can still pull it back, and you can always go shorter if you choose!

I have to laugh out loud at some of your posts! I love the Peak of Chic's comment about her hairdresser slowly moving up her head! What a visual. I am rolling on the floor laughing.

I wanted a change also and probably have the shortest of all of the cuts you show...Now Im seeing all of these longer haired ladies(jane Seymour etc) and wish I hadn't cut it! LOL
