Since we're broke I'm thankful that:

As our country and the entire world are headed for a serious "financial slump" ( more like a spiraling nose dive) I am thankful for the following:

  • I have been poor before and I am confident I could do it again in style.
  • I am an expert seamstress and could make fashionable clothing and home decor out of a potato sack (do they still have those? - I might have to use hefty bags)
  • I'm not a highfalutin gourmet - I can get by on tuna and crackers with the occasional pasta dish or peanut butter & jelly sandwich thrown in.
  • I never got on the Starbucks train so I won't miss my expensive daily coffee fix.
  • I don't drink alcohol at home so my happy hour won't be affected.
  • I have already lost my girlish figure so shopping is not really a priority for me, I won't miss the mall.
  • I work at home so gas is not an issue - I only need to make it a few blocks away to the local grocery store.
  • I have enough crap in my garage for a thousand yard sales that could generate some serious cash if I ever got off my butt to sort it all out. That day may be coming!

Things I can't live without:
  • Diet coke with crushed ice
  • Work
  • Scented candles
  • Never ending home improvement projects
  • The internet
  • TV
  • Electricity
  • Air conditioning & heat
  • Toilet Paper

Have a great weekend - Spend sometime being thankful instead of worrying.

Amen!! I could get by as well. It's nice to be self-reliant.

Too funny and true:)

I would have to agree with everything you mentioned!

I did get on the Starbucks train sooo I started making my coffee drinks at home....and sometimes I just have to splurge and buy myself a latte!

A brilliant post, that I am going to link.
The only thing I can't do without is the money to pay the mortgage and the basic utilities.
And it's not far fetched that it could happen to any one of us, and that is scary for sure.

We must be twins even down to the things I can't live without. Hubby and I are survivors and will always be, along with my family it is the love that holds us together!

I am glad to see this Jackie. I've been worrying about my 401K etc., for weeks. This gives me much to think about. I'm going to do my own version on my blog soon. Thanks!

I love positivity! My husband announced the other day how our stocks were doing~gulp~ I too have been so poor that I know we will be ok because we have our health and those we love and isn't that all anyone really needs?

I am celebrating my 100th post tomorrow. Please stop by.

Good advice Jackie. Maybe we all need to reassess our priorities.
Fortunately we in Canada are not hit as hard as you, but we could be right on your trail.

Thank you for this spot on list! You're so right! A home over our heads (hopefully!), our families, PB&J, what else?

Hey that's a cool list you have. Thanks for reminding all of us for the things we still have and can be thankful for.
